Lyndis Nivali
LYNDIS NIVALI is a creamblood paranoid hermit kleptomaniac with attitude problems, AND THAT IS PROBABLY MAKING IT SOUND BETTER THAN THE REALITY. His weasel lusus was eaten by some vicious Alternian fauna (specifically, a scalebeast) when Lyn was only a few sweeps old - in front of Lyn, no less - and Lyn was marked as cullbait from that point on. :|a However, his psionics allow him to refract light around himself to the point where it works as functional invisibility, so he managed to dodge the culling that should have inevitably followed. It did mean he was cut off from participating in troll society in any meaningful way, but...frankly he was fine with that! Lyn was hatched a runt - he’s almost 9 sweeps old and he is still only 4’10”. FOUR FEET TEN INCHES. He weighs less than 100 pounds. He is embarrassingly small is what I am saying here, and most trolls would probably consider him easy prey, so he is perfectly okay with avoiding them all! However, without a lusus to feed him or care for him growing up, he had to resort to stealing from the nearest city(which was ten miles away - he and his lusus had been deliberately setting up as far from other trolls as was feasible!), and he’s been doing it for so long now it’s become an ingrained habit!
His lusus was killed before the construction droids finished building his hive, so he doesn’t actually live in a hive at all! He lives in a cave overlooking the weathered ruins of what was meant to be his hive. :|a Said cave was meant to be only a temporary living place until construction was finished, and he’s never actually had the heart to move out since all his happy memories of his lusus were there. NOT THAT HE WOULD EVER ADMIT THAT.
As a result of avoiding any contact with other trolls so studiously, Lyn’s social skills are absolutely godawful. He never interacted with ANYONE until he was between five and six sweeps old, which is how long it was before he was lucky and skilled enough to get his hands on a husktop. From there, he wound up gravitating to troll gaming forums(he has a lot of free time in which to sit in his cave and do nothing in between thieving runs, so games were a thing he latched onto fast), which is where he learned almost all of his social skills. Unsurprisingly, this has turned him into a loud, angry internet troll to the first degree. The only good things to be said of his personality is that his lusus’ death gave him such an inherent respect (read: screaming fear) of death that he’s not nearly as vicious as most trolls and would actually never be able to bring himself to kill another sentient being except under the most dire of circumstances, and that he’s so used to consequences-free verbal abuse that when someone is actually HURT by things he says as opposed to simply getting angry, he finds it strange and distressing and actually feels bad about it.
Also as a result of being cullbait and hiding constantly from the drones as a result, Lyn has never considered quadrants as a thing that applies to him - both because he’d never be allowed to fill pails for the drones(they’d just kill him on sight), and because who would ever quadrant with him? Who would ever get the CHANCE to quadrant with him, since that would require meeting in person and he’s rather terrified by the very concept of letting another troll within 100 yards of him? Hence, he has zero quadrants, considers himself to have zero prospects for quadrants(whether anyone who knows him might think otherwise is another matter), and is extremely dismissive of quadrants in a combination of never growing up about them and sour grapes syndrome. WHO CARES IF HE’LL NEVER HAVE ANY, QUADRANTS ARE DUMB ANYWAY.
Of course, he knows all of this makes him a spectacularly shitty troll - he spends too much time alone with himself not to be acutely self-aware - and so he covers up his inadequacies and his self-worth issues (issues? He has an entire five-year’s subscription) with angry bluffing and posturing. LOOK HOW TOUGH HE IS. OBSERVE ALL THE FUCKS HE DOESN’T GIVE. HE IS TOTALLY A BADASS. WHY IS NO ONE LISTENING
Lyn uses a chain with heavy weights on each end as his weapon! By spinning them, he can generate enough velocity to do heavy damage without actually needing muscles or bulk to put a whole lot of power behind his strikes~ HE’S STRONG FOR HIS SIZE but let’s face it nobody is his size
