He's not as harmless as Adelle. Or rather he's somewhat territorial and thus probably really tried to kill her. But if she's close friends with Adelle (and mentions it) that might be a reason to not have her killed. Though he's still pretty frowny inside to allow a not seadweller living in the ocean.
